Incredible collaboration between jazz trumpter Freddie Hubbard and electronic tape composer Ilhan Mimaroglu. The full title is “Sing me a song of songmy a fantasy for electromagnetic tape.” Amazingly avant and experimental for being a 1971 Atlantic release. It features Freddie’s quintet with reciters, chorus, string orchestra, hammond organ, synthesized and processed sounds, composed & realized by ilhan mimaroglu on poems by fazil hüsnü daglarca & other texts.

Listening to this you lose sense of time. Ilhan’s collage tape work weaves flawlessly with Freddie Hubbard’s blues/bop sprinkled about. Moments of the vocal selections in combination with tape work are emotionally poignant. The anti-war message is both heard and felt. Unfortunately my scanner isn’t large enough to capture the inner gatefold artwork but it is equally effective. It’s hard to imagine this was written over 30 years ago.

Truly and aural treat…enjoy!

Enjoy!

Hey. I was wondering if you could RE-UP the download for “WAITING’ on Blue Note by Bobby Hutcherson. It’s so frustrating to go to rapidshare and have a “file not found” ERROR message. Thanks! rg
